Hi All,
I wonder if anyone could help with this request please.
I am looking for the location of these farms all in the Hawick area I think and they might not even exist now.
BLACKCLUECHMOUTH
COLLIEFORTHILL
SHUTTLEHALL
Thankyou Lesley.

Hi Lesley
I found several small places in Roxburghshire by going to old-maps.co.uk
Type in the name of a larger town nearby and see if they have a map dated around 1840-1860 for the area.
If you enlarge it then scan across about 10 xclicks each way drop down a couple of clicks (mouse clicks - that is) and work your way back over, you will be able to pick up some of the smaller hamlets , big houses and at least some of the farms.
Wish you luck with the search
Russell :)

Hi Lesley,
Genuki has an online gazeteer for Roxburghshire. I couldn't find Blackcleughmouth on it, but I did find Blackcleughrig and Blackcleugh - both in Teviothead parish and Black Cleugh in Castleton parish. There is also a Colliforthill in Cavers parish. I am afraid that there is nothing for a Shuttlehall - Slatehill in Teviothead was the closest I found. Cavers and Teviothead parishes lie not too far from Hawick parish, to be considered in the same area, and Castleton is not much further away.
Cheers,
Clare
