Title: Takeley Jewel/Juel
Post by: Susie1 on Tuesday 07 September 04 16:35 BST (UK)
Hi all doing Fewell's.

Thought this was the easiest way to let everyone know:
A while ago I wrote to Rev laurie Bond, who translated the Takeley Records and asked him if the Jewel/Juel's could possibly be Fewell/Fuel he wrote back and said that when he went again he would have another look.
Today he has replied and this is what he said:

Sue,
Having had another look at the records I think these entries are what you
are looking for. I spent a while with a member of the ERO staff looking at
the writing and I have now changed my records to F rather than J.

Best wishes,

Laurie

Well done Sue, over the coming years researchers will benefit from your work on the ffewels.  It could also save some Jewell researchers going off half-cocked, following up non-existent lines.  Shame you won't get recognition for your work but you no doubt gained a measure of personal satisfaction from the exercise.  8)

I think I need to recheck the marriage of John Warner to Elizabeth Sewell at Sandon, is it really Sewell??  :-\  This marriage is in the 1800s so hopefully the scribes had by then learnt to write the letter F  ;D
