Title: Cochrane Family- Darvel, Ayrshire
Post by: nutkin on Saturday 11 September 04 21:53 BST (UK)
I have some information on the Cochrane Family that were cattle breeders in Darvel .  Have a copy of entries from the family bible from  early 1800 and some 1790's entries.  Would love to find others who are researching the same family!
Kristin :)

I would be interested in any information you have.

Any connections to the McAdam's or Montgomerie's?

I have a Daniel Cochran born around 1825, married in 1860 in Kilbirnie and lived also in Dalry.  Parents given on marriage certificate as Neil Cochran and Margaret ?Hollies? (not clear).   Any of these names familiar?

There are still Cochrane families in Darvel.  They farmed at Richardton farm until recently.

Hi Nutkin

Am looking into COCHRANE just now as my Uncle Bill (William) Cochrane married a daughter of the Catrine Chisholm family ( my line) and I was curious if he had shown up in any responses to your queries, particularly from John COCHRANE from Richardton - who has been in contact with one of my Canadian Cameron contacts

Uncle Bill was the Catrine chemist and an inventor of some well known things

Cheers, John Chisholm
