Hi Cobweb
You are welcome. :)
I have just looked at the information I have for Arthingworth Church
grave-yard and there are no Timsons buried there.

Thanks again.
I am stuck on a John Timson who, according to the 1851 census was born in Ardworth, Northants in 1808. Could anyone suggest where this could be?

I checked www.streetmap.co.uk but Ardworth seems to be unknown. So I was expecting it to be a transcriber's interpretation of whatever was written and was going to try to read the image to see if I could make anything different of it, but I can't find a John Timson born 1808 in Northamptonshire.
If you could please give the references for the page - RG number, district, folio, page for example, we'll see if we can make anything of it.

Thanks so much for your interest. The details I have are from an entry transcribed by an uncle so I can't be sure of the accuracy:
1861 census RG9/291 Page 21 but no Folio number. Possibly 26?
District of Mile End Old Town, Sub district Stepney, Parliamentary borough Tower Hamlets, Ecclesiastical district St Philips, Stepney
9 Storer Street, John Timson, Head, married, 53, Porter, Northamptonshire, Ardworth?
and rest of Timson family all born in London
He was my 2xgt grandfather.
Any light you might be able to throw on his birth or any likely Timson connections would be invaluable.
Again many thanks

I have it now, writing is certainly not the best it could be Ardeworth/Ardemouth/ Ordeworth/Ordemouth or even something different. I've sent you a pm, hope this will be some help.

Hi Cobweb and Mary
I have looked at all the images from the 1861 through to 1881 and the spelling seems to be different on each one .
The 1851 says just Northamptonshire.
I can not insert the image as under additional options it has not got get file from such a place.
