Yonks,

I have no links to Armstrong, but I have to Bebside Colliery.

On Census 1881 there were three Humphrey Armstrongs living in West Row ( changed it's name to Errington Street in 1930s, demolished in 1950s), Bebside Colliery.

No 1 born C1800 @ Seaton Delaval
No 2 born C1845 @ Bedlington
No 3 born C1880 @ Bebside.

I noticed you wrote
" Mary Armstrong, b 1880 Bebside Cambois"...

Bebside Colliery lay on the south side of the River Blyth, and 3 miles inland. Cambois Colliery lay north of the river, on the coast.

Hi Yonks,

No specific links, however I was cruising thriugh my microfiche of births , marriages and burials, 1813-1839, for Woodhorn Parish, the Chapelries of Widdrington & Newbiggin & Cresswell Church (Bedlington Parish is immeadiately adjacent to the south) and I found these pre-census records which may be useful to you:

Woodhorn 1822.01.26 William Laws m. Anne Huggish
Woodhorn 1824 09 12 John Steel baptised   father John    mother  Margaret
Widdrington1837 04 16 Richard Steel baptised father Henry mother  Margaret
No records of burials of Laws' , Steel's, or Huggish's
Lots of Armstrong's as usual in Northumberland (big fisherfolk in that coastal area) but none of yours.

Hope this is helpful. Long shots can sometimes pay off when we get further back in time. I am finding this a challenge to break the 1880 barrier! If you need more on other names specific to my microfiche, just ask.

Best wishes!               Lumber-Jack

Hi

Jane Laws was the fifth child of Mary Ann Steel, b1811 in Horton and John Laws, b1805 in Horton, who were married at Christ Church, Tynemouth, 2nd March 1829.

Her older brother Robert b1851 was my wife's great grandfather and I now have compiled most of the Laws family tree from John and Mary to the present day.

Jane married Andrew Armstrong and they had three children, Elizabeth, b1876; Mary Ann, b1879 and Humphrey, b1880.

I have recently made contact with Wendy in Australia via Genes Reunited. Mary Ann was her husband's grandmother.

I am not clear as to which family are your immediate ancestors, Laws or Armstrong?

My mother-in-law has just celebrated her 96th birthday. Jane was her great-aunt.

I would be grateful for any further information you may have and also provide you with further details on both the Laws and Armstrong families

Kind regards

Wynton
