Hi both

Eileen do you have any family details for Louisa?

The one Anne has found is the nearest in age, but there is a Louisa b Merthyr which is nearer geographically.

Do you know her father's name from either of the marriage certs?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi,
thank you both for looking for me, I do not have Louisa's marriage cert, but will send for it, to obtain her father's name. I do not have any family details, as my father is very tight lipped about his mothers family, Louisa's Son, William Hook, apparently made a very quick exit from Ross when he was young, because of some trouble he was in, (I
haven't found out what) and went to London.
I will ask for another look up when I have the cert, or maybe it will prove Ann's is the one.
Thank you both for the look up and advice.
Kind regards Eileen

Hi again Eileen

Do you know anything more about William?  If we can find him on censuses with his family, it should be possible (in theory!) to trace his mother backwards.  What was Mr HOOK's first name?  When were they married?

I had a quick look and couldn't find a Louisa HOOK on later censuses that appeared to match (unless she was known as Annie and had a daughter Louisa?)

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi Arranroots, Thank you for getting back to me,
on the 1881 found William Hook as Stepson, (who is my gr grandfather).

found Louisa's marriage to William Hook 1868, and to James Parry 1875, on BMD.

William HOOK H M 24 - baker - Herefordshire Ross
Louisa W M 22 - Glam Tredegar
William G son 1 - Herefordshire Ross

Well, that is some progress at least!

I am afraid I haven't found them on the earlier censuses though.

It would be worth getting a marriage cert, to see who the parents are.

I have looked at both England & Wales.

It occurs to me that the 1901 with Ann & daughter Louisa might be worth looking at again, as they seem to use these names interchangably! - done that - it is not them

Hi again, Thanks for your help, I am wondering if on Ann's 1851 census look up, Aga Daughter 2 months, could be Sarah, or am I clutching at straws? Will send for the marriage cert, to make sure.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Eileen

It is certainly logical for Aga to be Sarah, but it is written beautifully, so it is not a misreading or mistranscription.  Not a name i have come across...

I suppose if the enumerator looped the bottom of the S it could look like an A g a, then when he copied it up he made it neater?

Let us know if you get anything interesting out of the marriage cert!

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi Rhys, Thank's for your reply, and look up, I am unable to look up the piece you mentioned, as I do not have the 1851 census for this area, is Sarah and Louisa's surname Price?

Eileen,

Did you ever establish if this was the correct family for your Louisa PRICE (i.e parents George and Sarah)?

These people are definitely my family - Louisa's parents are my great-great-great-grandparents.

I should be so interested to know if we have a connection.
