Title: Clean up Nanna please - Completed - Thank You
Post by: Lady Di on Thursday 09 March 06 09:35 GMT (UK)
Could someone clean/enhance this photo of my grandmother please.
It's nice to know that she was aged 12 but I wish she hadn't written it on the photo.  ::)

Many Thanks
Di

PS I hope this is big enough

Hi Di,
I understand what you mean, but on the other
hand how I wish that some body had written something
on all the photo's that remain a mystery to me.

Wow Harry, you have certainly done a lot of work on this - the chair detail is fantastic - congratulations.

Not too sure about the background colour but it is trendous anyway.

Thank you
Di

Regarding the background...
I can't really make out what it is, but to me it looks like a tent.  In that case, I would color that some shades of cream/tan.  I imagine the floor could be a carpet or dirt (if the image was taken outside).

The best place to get ideas for colors is to do a Google search for portraits.  Photographers are quite particular about the backdrops they use, and will usually pick colors that enhance the person and coordinate with their clothing.  One should consider the image as a whole when choosing colors. It might be tedious to color all similar colors, but the end result looks better.

Here's a quick idea of how I'd color this.

Hi Vikki,

Thank you so much.

Your picture is beautiful.
I understand about the background now - it becomes "back" ground that way and doesn't overwhelm the main person.

I will look at some other portraits to get further ideas.

Very much appreciated.

Regards
Di

Well Harry, I guess that answers our question - muted "fade into the background" type background.

Articulate - aren't I   ::)

I'm sure you understand what I mean (she says hopefully!!)  ;D

Good Luck

Hi Di,

Started on this before my trip to Manchester - now I see Vikki has started a better one - but anyway here's my attempt - picking colours reminds me of work - I had a paint & wallpaper shop!!  ;)

Cheers

Wow Harry, doesn't that make a tremendous difference  ;D

She now becomes the centre of attention and it is a striking picture (could you fade the cushions please? I love the colour but they are rather dominant  :-* :-*)

You have become rather an expert at this and should be very proud of yourself.

Thank you so much. It is very much appreciated
