Hi Julie,
I have access to the 1841 microfilm of the images only, it is unindexed. If you can give me a reference or an address I could look, but the whole county looking for a Jones is an impossibility.
Have you got them in 1851 or '61, that may give an idea where to start.

I have no reference for the 1851, 1861 1871, census.
All I know is what is on the marriage cert of his daughter.
In 1871 she was married, her father was deceased, I have tried tracing Alice, on the Glam 1841 census, the nearest to her is one where she is living within a family of Lewis's but listed on her own at age 6 mths. It states she was born out of county. I can't find her on the 1851 but in 1861 she is a servant born in Cillibebyll, in 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, she is born in Llanguike.
So now I am hoping to trace her through her father, and that she was born in Brecon, and having been brought up in Glam, from 6 months had always assumed that is where she was from. what a job.

Julie,
As I have the '51 indexed version I took a look on it. Just on the off-chance we could find them and work back.

If any look likely let me know and I can give you the household. None will have an Alice of the right age with them though.

Hi Kazza.
My Isaac probably would have been born between 1800 and no later than about 1820 as Alice was born around 1840. The only other thing I can go by is the names of her daughters and that she might have named one of them after her mother, maybe then if I find a wife living with Isaac who has the same name I can search church records. Is there a wife named Mary, Hannah or Elizabeth Isaac was a coal minere at sometime in his life.
Many thanks
Julie

Hi Kazza.
Could you look to see if athere is an Isaac who is a miner ( I realise people changed their jobs) who had a wife either Mary Hannah or Elizabeth. Alice had daughters by that name.
She also had a daughter named Ann, I am assuming she was named after her mother in law, who was Ann
-
OK,
I will do that.

Hi again,
This is the only miner of any kind with a wife named Mary Hannah or Elizabeth.
Although it is a Glam ED it is a Breconshire Parish. ::)

Hi Kazza.
Thanks for all the information.
I don't know where to go next, so I am trying the GRO and hoping they can find a certificate.
Julie
-
Hi Kazza.
I just thought I would let you know I found my Alice Jones's birth cert. I wrote to the GRO and asked for one search in Brecon, it came back not found. I then asked for one in Glamorgan and I recieved it. Alice Jones dau of Isaac and An Jones (formerly Jones) born April 1840 in Kil Y Pentan Gwaencaegerwen Llanguike. As the 1841 census was taken in June, they should be on it but they are not. I don't know where to go next.
One thing though I applied for a certificate at Neath Registry office 2 years ago and was told they could not find it, but obviously it must have been there.
I would recomend anyone having trouble locating a certificate to try the GRO it was worth the £11 cost plus the small cost of the search for the first one they could not find.

Hi Kazza
As I still have not found I ssac and Ann in any 1851 census in Glam, is thee any way you could look to see if there is one in Brecon some where either they both died or they moved to a neighbouring county.
Thanks
Julie
