I'm trying to locate the family of my great-great-grandmother Sophia Archer, born in Hull 1832.
I have a death certificate of a Jane Archer, died aged 54 in 1858. She was married to JOhn Archer, a mariner who later became a shoemaker. I think John was my Sophia's brother, but need some more evidence.
On the 1851 census John and Jane are living in Thompson's ?? in St Mary's district. In 1858 the death cert gives the address 24 Chapel Lane.
I'd be grateful if anyone could find the family in 1841 - or the marriage between John & Jane.
I'll be very grateful for any help or hints. Thank you.

Hi
I've found this, not sure what you might make of it, this group all appear to be living in the same house in Hyperion Street, Hull.
1841 HO.107/1225/2 folio 44 page 3
Stephen Carmichael aged 30 waterman
Sophia Carmichael aged 30
Sophia Archer aged 9
Isabella Archer aged 75
all born in county
In 1851 John & Jane where living at Thompsons Buildings, if this John is the brother of Sophia then there is an age gap of approximately 40 years :o
happy hunting

Sorry, my mistake - I meant to say John could be Sophia's uncle. Yes, I'm sure the 1851 entry is my 2xgreat-grandmother Sophia. I'm almost sure Isabella is her grandmother. I think Sophia Carmichael (nee Archer) was my Sophia's aunt.
I hope someone can find JOhn in 1841 - I'm trying to build up a picture of the Archers, but it's getting much harder before 1837.
Thanks for your reply, Bee. I appreciate it.
