Title: 1861 & 1871 census- Gainsborough- Goulding
Post by: cmcmull on Friday 07 July 06 12:54 BST (UK)
Hello Could I please request a lookup for Richard and Lucy Goulding who were in Gainsborough in 1861.  They were both born c 1828 Richard born Saxilby and Lucy born Wyberton.  I cannot find them in the 1871 census index so maybe someone will have ideas for alternative spelling. They are in Gainsborough in 1881.

Thanks
Carmel

Thanks Darcy
This is a pleasant find.  I hadn't realized I was missing Lucy Sutton from 1871 census and I hadn't realized the Goulding family also went to Canada.

That is great thanks Darcy.   :) I wonder why I couldn't find them on ancestry index in 1871.

Incidentally, Caroline's PoB in 1861 was Lincs Gainsborough
I believe the 17yo in 1871 was Pricilla.

Thanks Geoff
Priscilla does sound better.  It is a family name also used by Lucy's sister for one of her children and I have the birth regn for Caroline so that was not a problem.

Thanks again

Carol, ;D

I have amended my typing error on the 1871 census - of course Caroline was born in Lincs, same as the 1861. Sorry if I confused you - I'm good at that. ::)

Thank you Lady Elizabeth
As far as I know my Goulding family only had four daughters.  I am related to Lucy's family so I don't know anything of Richard's family background but I do know there were other Gouldings in the area who may have had descendants who are the one's you speak of.
Thanks,
Carmel
