Title: 1851 Braintree - Sarah Smee please-Completed Thanks
Post by: Kissimmee on Sunday 16 July 06 20:59 BST (UK)
Have picked up this family member on the 1861 census.  The couple didn't marry until 1853 so think that Sarah was either married before or an unmarried mother.  If someone could try to check out Sarah and her son Charles for me in 1851 I would be grateful.

1861 Stisted 1114 128
Benjamin Crozier      30
Sarah nee Smee      35
Charles         13
Benjamin           7
Rachel           5
Peter           2

Thanks Kissimmee

My goodness Ricky that was quick!
Looks like you have come up with a winner again and Emma could have been an unmarried mother.  It is the detective work that I so love with this addictive hobby.  Had only just noticed the diiference in the eldest child and the marriage date.  Maybe Emma is working elsewhere and the grandparents are looking after Charles.
Thanks again
Kissimmee

Thanks to you both Ricky and Andy,
First time in my life I have had 2 men fighting for my attention.

I am sure that the Sarah Smee age 26 would the correct one as the age is just one year out to 1861

Sorry about calling her Emma Ricky - have only had a cup of tea honest.

Thanks again for sorting out this one for me
Kissimmee

Hi Kissimmee

Only too happy to be of assistance. After all the help I got when I first joined this site, it's nice to be able to repay my debt.

Regards
Andy

PS Watch out for those spurious names creeping in, I wasted a whole evening once chasing a John instead of a James!! ;)
