Title: Rees Edwards and Mary JONES
Post by: ozlady on Wednesday 30 August 06 05:44 BST (UK)
I have a marriage for the above from IGI. I would like to confirm it and have a copy of the parish register entry if possible.

Rees Edwards and Mary Jones about 1823 Landdewi Brefi Cardigan Wales.
I think it might hve been solemnised at Zoar Calvinistic Methodist, Llanddewi Brefi. Do the registers still exist and if so where are they held please?

From 1754 until 1837 all marriages, apart from Jewish and Quaker, had to be performed by an Anglican clergyman, so they were probably married in St David's in Llanddewibrefi and those records are at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. The only records for Zoar Calvinistic I can spot are baptisms for 1811- 1835 which are at the PRO.
Dyfed Family History Society's website has a listing for where the various records are. I've got some Cardiganshire records - I'll see if I can find a date for you

I think the records I have are the BTs and there's no sign I'm afraid. The nearest I can find is a Rees Edwards marrying a Mary Davies in Tre-main in 1821. There weren't very many Rees Edwards around and he's the only one who married a Mary. Could be that the marriage didn't make it to the BTs but is in the parish records.
