Title: Parish Apprentice
Post by: pantglas on Friday 17 November 06 16:51 GMT (UK)
I have a Parish Apprentice's Indenture issued by the Guardians of the Poor in 1870. It is issued in the division of Holland, Lincoln and the Parish (not clear) looks to be 'Holbeach (Thrion?)'.
'the poor boy ....consented to be bound to William Porter owner of the ship 'Thomas' in the Port of Grimsby'.
The poor boy (our ancestor) Alfred Youngs was bound for 7 years.

Has anyone any idea regarding where if any archive records would be held and if possible shed any light onthe Guardians of the Poor in Holbeach (Thrion?) orGrimsby. Thank you.

The mystery word is almost certainly "Union".

Some info about Holbeach Union-

It seems the records are probably at Lincolnshire Archives.

Geoff
Thank you so much. I think it is certainly 'Union'as you say. The link is great and a spur to tacklingthis brick wall again. The answer obviously lies with any 'Guardians' records.
