Hi again Kelt :)
Following on from the Lanarkshire board and the children born to John and Catherine Walker following their marriage in 1863. Their oldest child showed as David, b. 05 JUL 1864 Beith, Ayr. Given that they seemed to follow Scottish naming pattern for their children, there is one possible family for John in 1851, fitting his age in 1871:
David Moffat, 42, Shoemaker (master Employing Five Men), b. Glasgow
Elizabeth Moffat, 45, b. Beith
Elizabeth Moffat, 11, b. Beith
Janet Moffat, 3, b. Beith
Jeanie Moffat, 5, b. Beith
John Moffat, 10, b. Beith
Duncan McCallum, 21, b. Beith, Sheomaker
William Stewart, 26, b. Beith, shoemaker
Address: Main Street, Beith, Ayrshire
Again, as with Catherine, his parents' details with need to be verified from his MC or DC.
Regards.

Hi Monica
what would I do without you, this could fit in well with what my friends mother said today. She said there was a shoemaker in the family somewhere down the line.
Mmm if you can help with any other branches let me know as I don't want to take advantage.
kindest regards

John is still at home, a bootmaker in 1861. Mother Elizabeth seems to be have died and father David remarried. I'll go now and get details and post.

Sadly, no children entries show up on IGI for David and wife Elizabeth, but this looks like their marriage entry possibly, with Banns being read in two places (probably where each lived prior to the marriage), actual extracts from the OPRs:
DAVID MOFFAT Marriage: 28 JAN 1833 Beith, Ayr, Scotland/ 29 JAN 1833 Kilbirnie, Ayr, Scotland. Spouse: ELIZABETH KNOX

And the marriage to Agnes:
DAVID MOFFAT Marriages: Spouse: AGNES ALLAN
Marriage: 20 SEP 1859 Beith, Ayr, Scotland
With this marriage date, hopefully Elizabeth died post 1855 to help you in tracing back her line.
