Researching the names McMahon, Gartlan, McGroder & Daly in the parish of Donaghmoyne. Also does anyone know where the records of tenants might be kept, would they be in Lord Bath's collection?

Rhodie:
Mary nee Gartlan McMahon's date of birth is based on her age at death 1914 aged 80, also the 1901 Census when she is age 69, so born circa 1832-1834
Check with Don Gartlan for whatever RC church was in or close to Donaghmoyne. Priest there should be willing (ha ha) to research her marriage records.
Hope this helps...

according to a researcher I contacted in Monaghan, the Catholic Church records for Donaghmoyne are late in commencement are ony extant from 1863, prior to this some additional registers were found and were extant til circ 1912, the originals destroyed (urrrrrrrrr) and an incomplete index made 1841-1858 and hence all there was for my McMahon/Gartlan union was No 631 James McMahon wed Mary Gartlan in 1853. So I am at a total loss to find out anymore on her, I did know from her grandson (my father in law) that she had a brother to went to the USA, but that is all I know. I suspect James's dad was either Patrick or Francis and their father James.

Hi ,
I just read your post and I have the Daley name in my family . They also were from Monaghan .
I have a Margaret Daley that married a Francis Flanigan . They would have been married around 1830's . They ended up living in Tassan .
Also, due to a letter that we have dated 1871 from their son , it talks about an uncle named P. Daley. I assume P stands for Patrick /Peter .
Would any of these apply to your Daleys ?

Not sure if we are connected. The Daley/Daily family I seek have roots in Upper Bocks townland. William Dailey wed Alice, both buried Lisdoonan, he was born circ .
I see you have an interest in McMahon where in Co Monaghan were they?
