Hi, would it be possible for someone to look up births and marriages in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
I have found a probable marriage for my ancestors:
Hugh YOUNG married Hannah BURLINSON in 1839?
I am hoping that someone could please help me with exact date and hopefully the names of their parents.
I am also looking for birth/christening records for their children:
Henry Robinson YOUNG born about 1839 (but could be earlier) Newcastle upon Tyne? and
John William YOUNG born about 1841 Newcastle upon Tyne?
Any assistance or advise would be greatly appreciated.

For anybody doing a lookup - the marriage was in the March quarter 1839 Newcastle on Tyne Vol 25 Page 278 as per freebmd entry
I found this entry on the BVRI

A search at the Newcastle on Tyne City Council site http://tinyurl.com/2xknya
shows they were married at St John The Baptist Church.

Hi Nick,
Hugh Young and his second wife, Hannah Burlinson had a son John William Young who married Lucretia Coleman. They had 2 sons , Herbert Richard and William Burlinson. Herbert Richard married Myrtle Aberhart in Nelson and my father was their only son. He also had 3 sisters who are all dead now.

I have some information attained from a friend who helps in the geneology room at our Whangarei library you may be interested in.
Hugh and Elizabeth Young had 2 sons -
Henry Robinson Young born 4 Feb 1835 . He was buried on 1 Feb 1914
Hugh Young - christened on 13 Oct 1836 in Newcastle upon Tyne
An 1841 census shows 2nd wife Hannah, Hugh and Henry (aged 6) on their records living in Northumberland area, but no Hugh Jnr is shown.
Shipping lists shown Hugh and 2nd wife Hannah arrived in Nelson on 25 Oct 1842 with Henry Robinson aged 6 and infant John William.

I had a quick look on familysearch.org site and found
Robinson Young born about 1773 Newcastle upon thyne
married Cathrine Lloyd (born abt 1777) there on 9 April 1798
5 children are listed, Hugh (born 22 Feb 1799) Robinson (born 30 Jan 1801)
Cathrine (born 1804) Edward (born 1807) and Hugh born 4 October 1809
Could that be the Robinson and Cataarine you refer to. Her maiden name was Lloyd but could be close to McLeod - perhaps.

My point was that most of those marriages are submitted , if you look at the last one it is McLeod definitely (not Lloyd) as it is an extracted record from parish records :) It also provides the Church they married from :)

Hughs birth and christening records have his Mother as McLEOD, and her Father as Hugh McLeod, see my posting above.
Yes, the children you have of Robinson and Catherine are nearly correct;
Robinson is THOMAS Robinson Young, 1801
There were probably 2 Hughs and the first one born 1799 died and they named your one born 1809 after him. This was not unusual in those days.

Thanks for that. I am new to this geneology thing but am discovering that names can be mispelt and some info has come from word of mouth, which is not always correct. . As you say Parish records etc should be correct.

Yes 27 October 1834 in Gosforth Northumberland so my records show, and she died before 1839 in Newcastle upon Tyne
