I am trying to find the marriage of my Gt (x3) grandparents.
William Homden was born c1835 in Chiddingstone/Tonbridge, his wife was born 1842 in Dartford.
On 1851 census Eliza is in Dartford Workhouse. Can't find William. (don't yet know who his parents were).
Can't find either of them on 1861,which is also the year they had their first child (Eliza). So am thinking they may have married in 1861.
Any help in locating either of them 1851 & before/ & their marriage much appreciated.

Hi Tati & Ian,
Thank you for the quick response.
Yes - just had a look and it does look like that's them - They were living in the same street in later cenuses. I now have 3 different places of birth for william, and yet another spelling of the surname. ???
Thanks again. Will see if I can find him in 1851 with birthplace of Charlton. or 1841

Ian - looking at the image, I think they are actually enumerated as Hornden, what do you think? :)
-
Hi Tati,
Looking at the image I think it's HOMDEN, if you look at the R in grainger or Lodger it is different to the RN/M in Homden.
What do you think

Tati
Have had another look, and it could be either, although leaning more to HOM when you see the M in Samuel, William and Emma christian names in others on the same page.

Well, I can't see the 'm' :-X but I do trust you are both right, especially as Eliza's birth was registered as Homden. :D
Can't see the marriage here however

William's age seems to vary a bit as well. If it is him that died 1893 Mar qtr Dartford it gives his age as 62 which means birth year c1831, whereas 1861 census has him aged 24, birth year 1837.

Do you have an atually address on heath lane for them I can look and see if the houses are still there on the way to taking my daughter to school on monday?
-
HI Ian,
Thanks - Pretty sure it's 1831
1891 census has his age as 60 which would suggest 1831, am wondering if in 1861 he gave the younger age for some reason. Will check others.
Hi LindyLou,
Thank you - don't have exact address for Heath Lane, but in 1891 they were living at 42 Heath Street, and in 1881 at 18 West Street.
Would be great to know if they're still standing, as long as it's not out of your way,
Cheers

Hi
Found this marriage of a William (looks to be) OMDEN in 1855 at Ash next Ridley (nr Dartford). Obviously it's not to Eliza (to a Kezia GREEN bc1834) but I wonder if he could be yours :-\

Can anybody find Kezia anywhere to help confirm or disprove?
Update
