Click on the link I gave you above and then put in Thomas Grice 1824 plus or minus 2 years. Go down to the British Isles section and he is there.

Hi, on the IGI there are quite a few Grices listed for Buckminster, including a christening for Thomas Grice 28 SEP 1824 Buckminster, Leicester, England, father John Grice, mother Mary.
I have traced some of my relatives back to Sewstern / Buckminster. There is a church in Sewstern, but no graveyard, all burials are at Buckminster church (don't know if this helps or not).
Regards. FEK33 :)

Hev,
Don't know if you are interested or not, but I have photographs of both Sewstern and Buckminster churches (I took these when I visited to take photos of family gravestones).
If you are interested, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send them to you.

Hi
Sorry I am 2 years late!
My family links with yours! My relative was John Grice b 1816- brother to Thomas b 1824 living in Town St, Swerston. Parents John (1788) and Mary (1794). John's father was Thomas (1757) who came from Wymondham, his father was Richard(1731) who lived in Swerston and his father was Thomas Grice from Buckminster. Let me know if you want the family tree.

Got the wrong spelling for the village - should be Sewstern.

Just saw this topic about the Grice family and letting you know Thomas Grice and Eliza Pullin were my husband,s relatives too. :)
Hi Hev not seen you for quite a while now. :D
Hi also to Grey2, We must be related too ;)
If you can help me findother relatives I would be very grateful.

Both- I need to get the family tree scanned as it is in my handwriting. My relative (great, great grandfather) John Grice from Sewerston married Eleanor Searson from Ropsley and set up a business in Osbournby near Sleaford, Lincs.
As far as i can tell John and Mary at Sewerston had 11 children, including my ggf. Thomas and Henry.

Will get the spellling right eventually! Sewstern!

Any chance of you being linked to the Grice family from Hull Ibelieve? I know its a long shot lol
-
Hi there- I don't think so. We appear to have moved very little until the current generation. I have traced back to mid 1750's only and Grice's then were in Buckminster Leicestershire and then over the next 5 generations only went 30 miles or so, in roughly 10 miles leaps, eastwards into Lincolnshire.
Sorry

There is a Darren Grice on Lincoln City Council. He represents Bracebridge Ward.

Dear All,
If we are talking about the Grice family that resided in Sewstern/Buckminster, which I think we are, then I am related. My father, Brian Richard Grice was born in Melton, East Yorkshire. His father, Richard Grice was born in Welton, the adjoining village. His father was born in Sewstern, but moved in his early 20s I believe as he couldn't get along with his mother. I believe this was a common issue which saw many of the family bomb burst from the family home, where they had been settled for a number of generations, at this time. There are certainly quite a few Grice graves at the lovely church in Buckminster. The bulk of the graves are located immediately behind the church, with another, more modern one, located in the newer part of the cemetery. Don't forget, the black sheep 'Flick' Grice, who died of the Spanish flu after WWI, he is buried well down the hill! Happy to chat further.
