Title: William Lewis-completed
Post by: Dannemois on Sunday 01 April 07 14:51 BST (UK)
It is said that William Lewis formerly of Cefn Brithdir Farm, Brithdir and in later years 5 East View, Brithdir, was responsible for getting the name of Brithdir changed from it's original name of George Inn.  There were grandchildren Gweneth & Rita James of John Street, Bargoed and relatives in Hengoed.  Would appreciate any help putting me in contact with any decendents or information with the aim of trying to prove that this was the case.

The station on the Rhymney Railway line bore the name of "George Inn " until it was changed in 1892.

Yes I am aware of that but thanks all the same.  I am researching the village and would like to find evidence when it changed its name to Brithdir and of the William Lewis connection.
