It's from a draft card and I can't make it out.

Thanks,

Bev.

THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO REPLIED - I WASN'T NOTIFIED BY ROOTSCHAT, SO I MISSED A FEW, BUT HAVE READ THEM ALL NOW. THANK YOU EVERYONE.  :-*

Can you post a larger version or say which part of the card it is from?

As a wild guess, it may be referring to a disability and say something like:
?ear turned ???? device for bad feet

Thanks,

It's for William Ambrose Reese in 1917 and it's from the part that says "Do you claim exemption from draft (specify grounds)?

If I try to enlarge it, it just becomes even less clear, sorry.

Bev.

It might start "Was turned down ......"

JAP
PS: perhaps "Was turned down twice for bad feet"

Ooooh yes, that looks good - not sure about "down", but I think the rest seems right.

Thanks a lot,

Bev.   :D

I agree, JAP,  that's what it looks like to me also.  "Was turned down (t?) for bad feet"
