Hi Sue this looks like the younger Elizabeth
RG10/2609 ED 13 Folio 87 Page 6
Upper Buttersend
Hartpury Gloucestershire
Home of William and Ann Broadstock and family Farmer
HAINS Elizabeth Servant 16 Unm b Hartpury General Servant
Here r the ref details for the 34 year old Elizabeth for your records
RG10/2611 ED 10 Folio 68 Page 20
Her Occupation is not a Governess it is a Gloveress (A Gloveress -often a widow or unwed mother-worked from home as did a seemstress or dressmaker-allowing her to support her family. Where they made clothing a Gloveress made Gloves by sewing them by hand. A Good Gloveress was reknown for having at least 8 stitches to the inch which was quite difficult to achieve around the small fingers. The skins were dropped off at her home allowing her to care for her family at the same time and the finished Gloves collected and the woman paid-presumeably as piece work for the finished product at a later stage. I would assume that although the woman was the producer of a quality product she would have been paid very little for her work)
All the best .....Kris :D
