Title: Peter Miller McPherson
Post by: 26christine on Saturday 16 June 07 18:43 BST (UK)
Father is Alexander and brother is William.   Born between 1880 and 1882.  Can anyone please check in Aberdeenshire Parish Records to see if you can let me know place of birth and any other information i.e. parents etc.
I'm new to this so hope I am doing this right.
Best wishes
Christine

Hi Christine

This is the closest I can see. There is one birth entry showing on Scotlands People, the official pay to view site for BMDs:

1880   MCPHERSON   PETER MILLER   M   ANDERSTON   GLASGOW CITY/LANARK   644/10 0003

If this is the correct one, then it might tie up with this 1891 Census entry:

Alex MacPherson 37, gen. lab. b. Wick, Lyth
Jessie MacPherson 36, b. Halkirk
Alexr MacPherson 13, b. Glasgow
Peter MacPherson 11, b. Glasgow
Margt MacPherson 7, b. Glasgow
Christina MacPherson 3, b.Thurso
John MacPherson 7mon, b.Thurso
Maret Munro 64, MI (relationship? mother in law??), b. Latheron

Address: Geise, Thurso, Caithness

Cannot see a brother William there, maybe if the right family, he was born after this date?

Regards.

Monica  :)

William (brother/son) may have been born by the 1901 Census if this the same family:

Alexander McPherson 48, labourer, b. Wick
Janet McPherson 46, b. Thurso
John McPherson    10, b.Thurso
William McPherson 7, b.Thurso
Donald McPherson 4, b. Thurso

Address: Campbell St, Thurso, Caithness

Regards.

Monica

Checking the 1881 Census and Alexander and Jessie do look to have been in Glasgow at that time for Peter's birth:

Alexander McPherson 28, Railway Servant, b. Caithness
Jessie McPherson 26, b. Caithness
Alexander McPherson 3, b. Glasgow
Peter McPherson 1, b. Glasgow

Address: 10 Blackie St, Glasgow Anderston

A likely marriage entry also in Glasgow for Alexander and Jessie with a clue to Peter's middle name:

1877   MCPHERSON   ALEXANDER   MILLER   JESSIE   KELVIN   GLASGOW CITY/LANARK   644/09 0577

Regards.

so again thank you.

Hi Christine,

I don't know how much you knoe about this family but I ama connected through the Miller side.

Janet Miller who was Peter Macpherson's mother was born to a Peter Miller and Margaret Munro around about 1854 in Caithness.

Peter Miller was the illegitimate son of Campbell Miller and Janet Innes.  Peter was born in 1816 in the parish of Thurso Halkirk.  My connection was Campbell's brother Alexander.

Campbell Miller was born 1786 in the parish of Thurso to John miller and Ann Cormack.

I have the details of Janet Miller's death and also her husband Alexander Macpherson, also  that of Peter Miller and Campbell Miller. Campbell Miller went on to marry and had a big family who were all Peter Miller's half siblings.

Where do you fit into the tree and can you tell me what hapened to Peter Miller Macpherson and do you know what happened to the rest of the family?

I know there was a William Macpherson  who lived in Aberdeen as he registered his father dead in 1938.

I can give you details of anything that may be of interest to you.

Regards,

Carly.

Hi Carole
I got both of your messages but not sure how to do a peronal one.
The connection for me is Peter miller Mcpherson is my grandfather.I know his parents were Alexander and Jessie(Janet) always thought he had just one brother but had several siblings.
My mother Jessie is his daughter.
Have started getting bits and pieces but My grandad married my granmother Annie Porter in 1920 on christmas day in South Shields County Durham (Tyne& wear now where I live)
My mam was born in 1923 and in 1924 Annie died.
Peter Died in 1968 after he had married for a second time.
I would love any info you have on anyone the bit I'm stuck on is last time my grandfather appeared on census he was 12 then the next time I know of is in 1920 marrying my grandmother.
As far as I know he left home at 14 and his brother William  was supposed to emigrate although if he died in 1938 and he and the parents were at Peters wedding that may not be right.
I'd love anything you have especially Williams death.
It would be nice if we could exchange e mail addresses but not sure how to do it outside of the chat room.
regards
christine
