Hi,
Can anyone help, is there anyone who is connected to Elijah Dobson 1877 Hungerford Berkshire and Sarah Ann Lewis 1879 Tonypandy, pontypridd, Glamorgan. They had my grandad Harry Dobson
1907 Pontypridd, Glamorgan and Eva Dobson 1899 Pontypridd, Glamorgan.
I know he had more brother's and sister's but i'm looking for any family connection's, due to the lose of my mom and without knowing anymore info.

Hi Ruby,
I have burial info of your people who are buried Trealaw cemetery, if you need this let me know. You can get internment records from Treorchy family ref library with the burial numbers, which can give address at death.
I have used this to trace my family with the electrol roll at same library via email. You maybe able to find additional family of your grandad via electrol to help find living contacts etc. The more you know the more likely you possibly will contact others.

My Grandad and his family must have moved to walsall, staffs at some time when they was young, as he had a sister named Gladys and Annie and a brother they called Jackie but i was a kid
growing up but more of the family was living up aldridge way and my mom and her sister's was born
Leamore, walsall. I put these message's out hoping i'll connect with cousin's but no luck so far.

The area on the 1901 census Elijah and Sarah are living is 202 Court Street, Tonypandy, Ystradyfodwg or now know as the Rhondda Valley. This is about 4/5 miles from Pontypridd. Pontypridd was the reg disrict for the area.
Here is the burial info all in same plot

There are half a page of Dobsons listed. Vicky (rootschat member) will take photo's of headstones, if you are happy they are your great grandparents. Think Sarah Ann Gleeson could be a grandchild?

I have my grandads birth certificate saying he was born at 121, Dunravenstreet,tonypandy,
ystradyfodwg his father Elijah Dobson and mother sarah ann lewis before marriage, i had a lady called dawn intouch with me saying he died in 1933 in the spanish civil war and i said it can't be he died in 1977, i hope i'm following the right person this is what dawn's been worried about as well.

Just put in Treorchy library into google the second hit down is direct for Anthony.
In 1901 they are living with a 'Brittain family' 121 Dunraven Street is a stonethrow from Court street, and he was born 6yrs later.... Dunraven is the main street in Tonypandy. the library holds electrol info from 1918.
Just put 'Rhondda cynon taff photographic archive' into google for photos of the area.
Can only give you the info I have...

This lot as got me wondering, i've told you who his sister's and brothers are to whom i know.
I was 6 yrs old when he died and 9mths old when my nan died, he was deffernatley harry Dobson and his wife Ada known as Doll. I got my moms birth certificate her name Maureen lilian Dobson B:27/06/1942 at 23,comwall st, U.D. Father: Harry Dobson-spelt furnace man and the mother Ada Lily
Dobson formerly Saunders of cannock.
So i sent to walsall registry office for their marriage certificate, this is what came back: Harry Dobson
19years coal miner (loader) 22, upper green lane, walsall, staffs His father- Arthur Dobson Tube worker
wife Ada Lily Saunders 19yrs spinster 31, comwall st, leamore, walsall. her father- James Saunders
pit sinker.
they got married 18/sep 1926

cas, i sent off again then to walsall for my grandad's birth certficate because of his father being Athur
Dobson and my mom said his birthday was the 15th August and he was born deffernatley in 1907
i had a phone call saying no one was registered there at walsall on that date and the father did'nt exist but they had an Harry Dobson for the 9th august 1907 but i'd have to send to pontypridd glamorgan wales.
The birth certificate came back 9th aug 1907 Father-Elijah Dobson coal miner at 121, dunraven st,
tonypandy, ystradyfodwg and the mother Sarah ann Dobson formerly Lewis.
What i can't understand what's with the arthur being his father on the marriage certificate then that
dawn saying he died in 1933 spanish civil war and i sent her the b/m certificate and a photo of his grave dying in 1977 in my moms home, she's lost now.

This is your grandads death reg.
Harry Dobson Walsall 34 0490 March Q 1977 - DOB 15 Aug 1907
If your mum is correct (she would know her dads birthday), you have the wrong birth cert for Harry Dobson. You know you have the right marriage cert for your grandparents his father is Arthur.
Dont think the above info is related to you. Will see if I can come with anything on freebmd, it could be he was registered as Henry?

There is a birth reg for Harry Dobson Dec Q 1907 Walsall 6b 688.
It could be he was registered at the end of the 6 wks and it fell in Dec Q, if this ones father is Arthur you are back on the right track... :)

The reg above should be enough for the Walsall office to find it, it does not say were born only the reg district.
I would have a chat tell them his birthday and father is defo Arthur, if these details are correct you know you have the right birth cert for your grandad.
This looks likely.

If all else fails, here is the birth for an Eva Dobson Dec q 1899 Pontypridd 11a / 562 J..J.
( OOps, sorry, I thought Wales was factored into the equation)

Eva belongs to the wrong family of Dobsons. Her brother Harry is the cert that Ruby has, which is the wrong one, as her father is Elijah, and her Harry's father is Arthur.
Probable sister of the right Harry born in Walsall is

He did have a sister called Gladys who lived over walsall, and had daughter's. i think that child called sarah A in that census is his sister called Annie but the only other one i met was a brother called Jackie and my mom said his name was Jack but he was called Jackie as a nickname.
He as other brothers and sister's in walsall but that was years ago.
Cas i'm going tomorrow to walsall and taking his marriage certificate as well and i'll talk to them like
you said.

Checking freebmd she was called Sarah Ann, as her mothers namesake, it would make sense that she was called Ann/Annie. The other child on census is James Arthur.
If you do find out these are yours, there are other children born freebmd mmn Tiff

From the marriage for James/Caroline you know that his father is James Dobson, looks like he was brought up by grandparents, this looks a likely birth reg only one for Walsall around that time, this should give you his mother.
