Does anyone know how long you would be able to stay in a Union workhouse, first time I have come across this...

In 1871 Martha is in the workhouse with 3 children, no husband present, cannot find him...possible son Edward is born Mar Q 1876 - possible likely death Jun Q 1877.  (Thanks for info Welshjo  :) ).  As 'Guest' is not that common I guess it is a connection and he is a son.  What sort of conditions did they live? did they have their own rooms or communal etc

Any thoughts or info? excuse my ignorance please  :-[

Welshjo thanks for the MI details  - it is him.

Traced a marriage.  In 1891 the brides family are living at the same address as his death, also have traced the others in plot they are wifes maternal grandparents.   So many thanks.
