Could someone please look up the 1891 Census for 21 Henry Street, Bedminster, Bristol, and see if the Taylor family was still living there at that time. If so, any children born after 1881.
Many thanks

Hi Mary
welcome to rootschat ;D
It is much easier for people with the resources to look for actual people rather than for addresses, as 1891 is not searchable by address or occupation. So if you can give the details(names, birthplace and age) of the family in 1881 I can look for them in 1891.
cheers

Hi Tara
The family at 21 Henry Street in 1881 was:
John B Taylor (supposedly 71 at the time but I think this may be incorrect) born Brislington, Bristol. Letter Press Printer
Wife: Elizabeth b 1845 b Litton, Somerset
Children:
Francis 14
Maud 8
Adolphus 7
Henrietta 5
I think there were two more children born after the 1881 census - Beatrice and George, and am trying to confirm this.
Many thanks

Many thanks Bryant.
John was certainly a lot older than his wife, and Eugenie is a new one to me - hadn't heard of her before!
You don't happen to have the 1891 Census do you to check the children born after 1881?
Thanks again

Mary
Bedminster is in Somerset
Maud Mary Taylor was born Mar qtr, 1871, Bedminster, vol 5c, page 782.
A Maud Mary Taylor (definitely the WRONG one?) married in the Sept qtr 1896, vol 5c, page 1155 at Bedminster. She married Edwin Bernard C Horsey, you will find them in the 1901 census at Tickenham, Somerset, looks like Wash End? Tickenham Hill and they also appear to living with Edwins widowed father Bernard aged 67 who is a market gardener as is Edwin
Edwin Horsey 29
Maud " 28 born Coventry
Evelyn " 3
Emma " 5 mnths

Adolphus Henry Taylor was born 1873, Bedminster, Dec qtr, vol 5c, page 709/719 ?
Eugenie Ellen Taylor died in 1877 aged 8 at Bedminster, Sept qtr, vol 5c, page 409.

Hi Mary
have found a possible for 1891
Civil parish: St George ,Gloucestershire
Source information: RG12/1976 , ed 9, folio 33, page 15
Reg district: Barton Regis
address: 18 Green bank road
Name Age Birthplace Relationship to head-of-house occupation
Cox, Albert 40 Downend Gloucestershire Head barber (neither employer or employed)
Cox, Elizabeth 41 Chewton Mendip Somerset Wife
Cox, Edward 17 ?Berston? Bristol Son coalminer
Cox, Albert 15 ?Berston? Bristol Son coalminer
Taylor, Adolphus 17 Totterdown Bristol Stepson bricklayer's labourer
Taylor, George 7 Totterdown Bristol Stepson
Taylor, Gerald 5 Totterdown Bristol Stepson
so there looks like there was definitely George born after 1881 and
John Brian Taylor must have died, dido with Albert Cox's wife

In 1891 Henrietta is a visitor at a household in Coley East Harptree Somerset with the Millard family. She is 14 and born Totterdown. George age 60, wife Sarah Ann age 56 and son James George age 32. George is a farmer - as is son. I believe the family is called Coley and born George and James were born there. Sarah Ann was born in what looks like Babcary Somerset.

this is interesting ::)
in the 1901 census here is Adolphus H Taylor.
Civil parish: Bristol
Ecclesiatical parish: Radcliffe St Mary the Virgin
source information: RG13/2358 , ed 2; folip 35, house schedule # - 141
Sub-registration district: Bedminster , Bristol , Somerset
address: 25 Wollington St
name Age Birthplace Relationship occupation
Adolphus H Taylor 27 Bristol Head bricklayer's labourer
Elizabeth Taylor 53 Litton, Somerset Mother
George A Taylor 17 Bristol Brother coppersmith's labourer
Gerald Taylor 15 Bristol Brother c????uter's apprentice

Elizabeth is a widow
quite obviously the same family - but with mother Elizabeth back to the surname Talyor - which would be a very unusual thing to do if Albert Cox had died.

ahh
found Albert cox living at 36 Greenbank Rd
age 50 - a barber and a "WIDOW"
very interesting!!! - kind of explains the use of the surname Taylor by Elizabeth in 1901
