What happened to Matilda (4m in 1891)?
Was she
Births Dec 1890
Watson Hailey Ann Holbeach 7a 355
who became Annie? Should Hailey be Tilly?
-
Hi Geoff,
Matilda is a bit of a conundrum.I can't find her on the March 1/4 birth regs and by chance she was born in December 1890 I can't find her on the Dec 1/4 birth reg because unfortunately on freeBMD the page that could have her name on is missing.
I havn't searched in the same way for her death yet but a quick look on Freebmd does show a Matilda Watson who died aged 1 in Holbeck in Sept 1891.I havn't checked it yet but I wondered if it was a mistranscription because her area would be Holbeach.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about Hailey Ann.I've only just discovered Annie so gone into it deeply.
I've no Idea who the father of the 1st 2 children was.

The death in Holbeck (Leeds) is a red herring ... there's a Matilda WATSON aged 1 in Holbeck in 1891 census.
As the Holbeach one was 4m in the census, she wouldn't have had a birthday by September of that year.

Hi Kerry and Geoff,
that birth is the one on the missing page on the imageson freebmd-thanks.
Thanks Geoff for clearing up the Holbeck/Holbeach problem. So what's happened to her I wonder?

I imagine Annie and Matilda must be the same child. Otherwise, one must ask "where was Annie in 1891?" as there's no one around that fits.
-
Hi Geoff,
I'm inclined to agree with you. It's just a pity that the birth reg didn't give her name as Matilda Annie! That would have solved a big problem ;)
