My great aunt said that the woman on the left was her Auntie Sarah, and the woman on the right her Auntie Martha. However the one on the right says "Yours Truly Sarah" so she may have got it wrong. They look extremely alike, and I'm wondering if they're both of Sarah.
Also, would anyone be able to date these photos? The one on the left is on a blank card, the one on the right is on a post card.

I think they're the same person (or identical twins :D). The hair even looks the same - a little bit whispy.
-
They are definately sisters, but I do not think they are the same person.
the lady on the left's nose has a very slight curve to it.
whereas the one on the right is completely straight.
I would think the photos was around the 1920's at a rough guess.

They certainly look like the same person, if at not least very close sisters. Normally, an easy way to tell is to compare the shape of ears - totally out of the equation with these two photos!!!

I agree with Margaret - there seems to be a difference in the nose shape.
I think your great-aunt just got the names the wrong way round.
As to date - 1920s, possibly into the 1930s.
All the best

Do you think they may have different eye colours? The woman on the right looks like she has darker eyes, but I'm not sure if it's because that photo is in a darker sepia.

I see what you mean about the noses - I'm wondering if it's just the lighting that makes the nose on the left not look straight. I think the mouths look the same - the way they curve at the corners. The lips also appear to have the same amount of fullness. I also think the shape of the chins and brows are the same. Yes, shame we can't see the ears.
Hard to say if there's a difference in eye colour - possibly just the different tones of the photos.

I agree with Ruskie.

I pinched Jim's pic and lightened the lady on the left. I don't think they are the same person, but sisters.
I also think the lady on the right has a fuller bottom lip than the lady on the left.

looks like its 50-50 :P
don't think this will swing the balance but I agree with Jim and Ruskie, the only differences I can see are affected by the lighting and slight age difference in timeframe. I have pictures taken of me a few years apart, around the same age as these photos, and I look totally different!
Can you tell us the dobs of Sarah and Martha and maybe that will help along with the clothes styles too?

Unfortunately they were very close together. Sarah was born in 1898, and died in 1928. Martha was born in 1900. I did mention to my great aunt that they looked identical, but she said that all the sisters did, including her mother.

I've played some more and got the eye tone similar. Still say sisters. :P

And let's go from the sublime to the ridiculous ;D Gave them the same hair and trimmed a bit of age of the lady on the left by removing some of the jowl.

I think they are the same person taken at different times :D
