Post by: Cougar on Saturday 20 March 04 01:59 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have a Mary Anne WOOD, born London 1821 in their history please.  She married David Stanley and they lived in the Shoreditch area.
Many Thanks

Thanks Cougar. I need all the help I can get.
Think I may have found Joseph Wood in the 1901 census, am trying to confirm it. If it is him then he would have been 27, therefore 17 in the 1898, or I may get lucky and get a marriage. Will let you know if I come up with anything.
My other surnames are just as easy to find...
Taylor, Moore, Taylor-Moore, Hope, Galley, Sharratt.
Have a safe journey.

Hi Juju
am back,
found two John Wood in the Shoreditch 1861 census but they are too early for you unless your John was named after his father?
Will check the 1881 census records for you tomorrow and see if I can find him there,
Cheers Cougar

Hi,
Hope you enjoyed your trip.
There is John Joseph Wood born 1928, John Joseph Wood born 1905, Joseph Wood born 1873ish, so it could possibly follow that there are more combinations of the name in earlier generations.
Joseph Wood born in 1873ish we think died in southend on sea.
John Joseph Wood born in 1905 died in Canada as did his wife Esther Ada (Sapsford)
His daughters Joyce and Joan also died in Canada, daughter Jean we think died in Southend on Sea.
As I said, any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Juju

Hi Cougar,
I have just been looking in the indexes for Wood on 1871online.com and have double vision...  :o without dates the searching is really hard, so many possibilities and so many wild goose chases!!
Still will have to console myself with a ride on my new babe, well new to me.. My hubby bought me a 1957 Triumph Tiger Cub, lovely little bike, purrs like a kitten.
Happy Hunting

Hi Victoria,
Will have a look through and see if I can get a match.
I have a margaret Hope but she wasn't born until 1936, her father John Thomas Hope married Ida Lockett. Ida's Gt grandmother was Emma Taylor, had an illegitimate daughter Elizabeth Taylor then married George Sharratt. They were all from around the Nantwich area of Cheshire as far as I can tell.
