Hi All
Have received a marriage cert today and wondered if someone can help with the church. The certificate says they were married at St Thomasi Parish Church, Scarborough but googling the name brings up St Thomas. I don't know the area and the 2 people who marry have residence given as Tuthill. My ancestor marrying is Charles Henry Ward to Hannah Jessie Cowling Sept 11th 1882, fishmongers are the trade for both backgrounds and if anyone can help me find Charles 1881 and 1891 and 1901, that would be a bonus!
Many thanks,
Willsy

Whoops everyone, studied the cert as bits are difficult to read and it's St Thomas's, the S varies!

Hi Willsy,
Tuthill is a small street not far from the seafront and harbour in Scarborough. (Google's a wonderful thing :D )
Does the marriage certificate give Charles & Hannah's ages?

Hello Bee
Charles is 23 and Hannah is 27. I can't find Charles again until 1909 when he dies at 4 Church Stairs Street,
1881 Census RG11/ 4806 Folio176 Pg.8
On board 'Young Alice'
Charles Henry Ward Age 22 Unmar Fisherman Born Newark, Nottingham
and have found most of the family buried at Manor Road Cemetery. Hannah marries again 1914

Hello Willsy
It looks as though Charles was away at sea on the night of the census, a bit inconsiderate of him to miss two census'
I'm assuming that fishing boats would have been registered somewhere, maybe it's a possible line of enquiry.
happy hunting

I thought that might be the way to go now I know he was married for definite too. I thought it was very inconsiderate too!
