It probably is - what is the source of her parents names?
Added - there's also a Mary Armour Macmonegal, 1864, Glasgow Central.
Having to modify because we can't post at the moment:
I've enlarged the images and now I don't think either of them are a good enough fit :-\
I've looked at the 1871 census and can't find anything remotely like any of them :(

looking good, looking good
it's so tempting gadget...
think oor pal is away tae find oot the connection.

I think I've looked at this before. I went into SP and looked for a marriage and found this one: -
Blytheswood - 3 April 1885 - United Prebyterian Church - banns
Valentine Haggarty and Mary Ann McMoneagle, pottery worker, aged 21
Parents - John McMoneagle, engineer labourer and Mary Ann, m.s. Wilson
As soon as I saw this, I recognised Valentine Haggarty's name. i don't think we could find him again and I think he changed his name .
I checked my records and found that we'd done searches beteeen October 2006 and 27 Feb 2007. I've now searched on past postings and this was the thread that choco2 put up:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,216972.0.html
Having read the thread, Valentine went by the name of Glover for a while, Mary is just a minor player on the thread and appears to be born Glasgow but, knowing how people gave different information between births, marriages, deaths and censuses. I'm wondering if there is a similar mystery here.

I've been searching for Mary Ann's death after 1823 under Haggarty/Huggarty and Glover but can't find it in relation to a M*cM*g*l* :-\
Gadget

Found it - she died 26 January 1933. Her parents are now listed as William McGonagle and Ann Moore - both deceased.
So we're getting somewhere now :D

IGI has her birth to these parents, Anderston 27 June 1864.
Gadget :)
Added - why she gave the other names on her marriage cert, I do not know ::) ::) ::)
-
Her parents married April 16 1848, Balliheugh, Co. Donegal.
Sorry choc - another Irish root :-\

hi gadget,
just read your thread on valentine,
i really must take my hat off to you, well done, a lot of work there.
Joe
-
Thanks Joe - as soon as I read through it, it gave me the lead. Why do these ancestors of ours give wrong info - is it just to make it more difficult ;D
So no Mary Ann Wilson and no John - just William and Ann Moore ::)

The only other child showing on the IGI to probably the same parents is:
21 April 1868 - John McMonagle, Anderston

Looks like our Mary Ann and family, Joe :D
Well done!
I'll go see if I can read it - if I can fine it :-\
-
SP have them as McMonaghan but it looks like McMonighan to me on the image.
reference is Reg Dist - 644/8 ED 52/8 page 13
Mind you - they said that they were married in 1848 on Mary Ann's birth cert - do you think there are a few more exaggerations here - one way or t'other ::)
-
Thank you all for your help.
I have been trying to post but kept getting an error message so I will try again today.
Sorry for the lack of information all I have is a marriage cert number 644/0701121 Mary Ann is aged 21 on this the date of marriage is 01/01/1885.
Her parents are listed as John McMoneagle engineer and Mary Ann McMoneagle nee Wilson.
Gadgit seems to have the right family as she has helped me before with Valentine Haggerty. For this I thank her so much.
Once again thank you all and sorry for taking so long to get the post on.
P/S if this doesn't post I will go mad as I have typed this out so many times

Hi choco
I hpoe you saw that I had got her death certificate and on it the parents weren't John and Mary Ann but William and Ann Moore. She shows up with them as a baptism, as does her brother John. The last few posts give more info on her. I see that I types her birth year up wrongly - it is 1864, Anderston.
Found it - she died 26 January 1933. Her parents are now listed as William McGonagle and Ann Moore - both deceased.
So we're getting somewhere now :D
