Title: Henry KEARNEY / Elizabeth WILSON b: early 1800's? Tandragee, Armagh
Post by: treksandy on Thursday 06 December 07 13:33 GMT (UK)
Appreciate any help whatsoever - I am looking for any information regarding the above - birth / death / marriage / relatives etc.

I have traced these folks as my ggGrandfather / Mother, but can get no further. I think that they may have been from TANDRAGEE.

Their daughter is (my gGrandmother) Jane Kearney b:1840, Tandragee, Ireland d:31.10.1898 East Calder, Scotland. Married James Mulholland Oct 1857.

Thanks
Sandy

Hello Sandy,

What denomination were the Kearney and Wilson families? Were they  members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), Methodists or Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi Christopher,
Thanks for replying.

Truth is, I have so little information - but I suspect they were Church of Ireland - fairly sure that they were not of the Catholic faith.
