You are such a clever lot.

If you look closely at the cap badge, you can see the letters "DLI" in the middle.
-
simple when you know how eh? I am amazed at how much you can discover through this site.

You can buy and download a copy of his medal card from the NA

There are two George Parsons listed in the DLI - but probably they will be on the same medal card.
-
Thanks ShaunJ. It's amazing, all this info from a badge on an old photograph.

Have you got his war medals? There should be an army number engraved on the edge, along with his name and regiment.

Shaunj
Unfortunately I don't have his medals. I have downloaded info as suggested but as far as I can see it doesn't tell me anything about him.
-
No Ditsy, the medal card is not very revealing is it (whichever DLI George Parsons it is). The trouble is, you don't know until you buy it.
His WW1 service records may have survived but until Ancestry complete their upload that will require a trip to the National Archives.

Thanks again Shaunj,
on a more positive note, at least I have learnt something about him I didn't know before and have another avenue to follow
