Hi Lorna
Just sent you a reply re Denny Hall. Hope you are the same Lorna.
Yes this is the family of mine. I have this census but it doesn't look like any one of the current family are doing any family history.
Thanks again

PS if you need any help here in Australia please let me know if I can help.

Hello "Anderson"

My name is David Kindred and I have been researching the Kindred family name for more than 35 years.

James Myles and Mary Stewart referred to in this posting were my maternal great grandparents.

I would be very interested in your research on this family line.

My Kindred line is from Suffolk, where I was born. and I'm afraid that I have neglected my mother's lineage for far too long.

James Myles and Mary Stewart are the oldest connection that I have to the Myles family.

Any help or guidance that you can provide would be greatly appreaciated.

Regards,
David C Kindred

Hi Anderson.

There is no doubt whatsoever that we are connected.

As previously mentioned, James Myles and Mary Stewart were my great grandparents.

“Lizzie” as you mention is my grandmother, Elizabeth Fleming Myles (b. Jan 25, 1884 in Denny, Stirlingshire d. Jan 5, 1971 in Toronto, Canada – she was living with us in her later years)

Elizabeth married Glantha Ethelbert Charlie Hutchens (b. March 13, 1881 in Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, d. March 9, 1948, in Cork City, Ireland)

Elizabeth married Glantha (know as “Bert”) at “Daisybank” in Denny on April 18, 1911.

(“Daisybank” and “Graigview” are adjoined cottages which were built by James Myles and “Daisybank” is owned today by Janet Mitchell nee Myles , daughter of James Myles and Janet Kelly, granddaughter of James Myles and Mary Stewart)

Elizabeth and Glantha had one daughter, my mother, Mary Stewart Myles Hutchens (b. July 10, 1916 in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland, d. May 30, 1999 in Toronto, Canada)

Mary (known as “May”) married Ronald Walter Kindred (b. Aug 4, 1917 in Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England, d. March 2, 1997 in Toronto, Canada)

Mary married Ronald in Skibbereen, Co. Cork, Ireland on September 15, 1938.

Mary and Ronald (May and Ron) had three children:

Wendy Elizabeth Kindred
Ian Ronald Walter Kindred
And finally me, David Charles Hutchens Kindred

Wendy married = two daughters Michelle and Renee
Ian married = one son, Matthew, one daughter, Emily
David (divorced) = One daughter, Erin

The information that I have on your line is sketchy. The photos that I mention are mostly originals from my grandmother’s albums.

I have Mary Myles married Willie Anderson (this must be the connection!!!!) and they had two daughters, Mary and Margaret. I have no dates other than Willie Anderson passed in 1965. (I have a photo of Willie)

Mary (known as “Mamie”) married John Stark (I have a wedding photo and a photo of Mamie as a child) – they had two children, May and Ian (I have photos of May and Ian)

Margaret married Jim Moffatt (I have photos of Margaret) – they had four children, Mary, Christine, James and Alexander.

As for the other children of James Myles and Mary Stewart, again my information is limited and based only on my mother’s and grandmother’s memories.

Tom Myles born Kilsyth (no other information)
Robert Myles born Kilsyth (no other information)
James Myles married Janet Kelly – 10 children (including Janet the present owner of “Daisybank”)
Mary Myles (your line previously discussed)
Elizabeth Fleming Myles (my line previously discussed)

I hope that this establishes my bona fides and we can continue to investigate our connection.

I use Family Tree Maker for my genealogical database (and many, many binders for photos and documents) so, if your software is compatible, we can share our data electronically.

I am not certain as to ho we can share this information in private. I just joined this chat yesterday after discovering it while searching for Myles connections on the net. The webmasters advise not to reveal e-mail addresses in the chat windows…And I don’t see any provision for private communication. Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Hello David,

I think you have to make about five posts before you can use the personal message system. And you can't use your e-mail address on here either. But I have a few contacts who come from the Banton area and I could make some enquiries through them to see if they have any info on the postman from Banton.

David,

it should be at least three postings before you can use the (PM) Personal Message system.

Hi inss03
You are correct in what you are doing but just to add on a bit more.
Thomas Myles & Elizabeth Fleming married on the 1 June 1838 in Kilsyth. They had (what I have found) 11 children. Thomas Myles(a) was the 1st child born and he married Christina Johnston on the 5 July 1861 in Kilsyth. My great grandfather James was Thomas(a) brother. He was the 5th child born (12 Feb 1847). James was the postman at Banton.
Let me know if you want anymore info.

For those who may be interested ....

James Myles (died 1922) appears to have an existing gravestone in Kilsyth Cemetery, see: http://memento-mori.co.uk/34.pdf

The index also includes dates and ages at death for a few other 'Myles' (also Maiden Names for wives)

Denny Cemetery also contains some 'Myles', see: http://memento-mori.co.uk/20.pdf
