I agree - great photos. Not having seen the original post, I don't know whether this is of use to that person, but the "business records" of the Manchester Ship Canal Company are at Greater Manchester County Records Office (in Manchester, but not the same at the Central Library that has parish records, newspapers etc)

Absolutely fascinating.
Thank you for the link. The modern photo's together with the archive o0nes work really well.
I remember some of those including the Barton Aqueduct from visiting when I waas tiny.
