Hi

Scotland's People has Fanny & Archibald's marriage certificate. This will give you both sets of parents.

From that you should be able to get births for Fanny's Parents and using the census if you then find their parents it should show their siblings. This McCafferty at 17 East Shaw St could have been a relation. A lot of Orosh folks came to and from and settled in West of Scotland. It could be this was someone who came over earlier and the family stayed with them. But first you;d need to establish if Fanny's parents were resident in Scotland in 1901

Hope this helps

Ann

This is the only Fanny Rowe I can find on any of the census
I am not sure if they are the right family but some of the names are quite similar to
your other family names
George Rowe....................37
Ann ..................................31
Charles.............................14
George..............................12
Fanny...............................7
Alfred...............................9
Henry...............................2
they are living at 76 Dempster street  gives her birth place as England
so you maybe able to search the BMD record for her birth
Elaine

BMD has Fanny Gertrude Rowe, 3rd Qtr 1873, Newton Abbot.

1871 census:
Newton Abbot, Devon
George Rowe, Head, 27, Printer, Cornwall
Elizabeth A Rowe, Wife, 22, Devon
Charles W Rowe, Son, 4, Plymouth
George B Rowe, Son, 2, Plymouth.

Can't see this family in England on the 1881 census, so I think it might be the one you found in Scotland, Elaine, especially as George's occ. is the same.

Hi James,
On your family tree on Genes Reunited you have William and Mary McCafferty as Edward's parents,  are these correct? If so then this isn't the same Edward McCafferty that married Fanny Rowe.. PS.. are you still searching??

1871 Census
Patrick.......................42
Catherine..................42
Edward.......................9
Rose Ann...................10
Isabella......................6
Margaret....................3

I think uncle Jim is the only chance there..  Uncle Jack was too young.. he didnt remember his father I don't think,  and of course my grandfather searched for him all his adult life... I'll say to my dad u emailed.. he never does his email!

Do you know who the children were of Edward and Mary Kelly?  I have just added some stuff about her on GR...

ok.. I've totally confused myself..   Edward McCafferty had a sister Kathleen and she married James Gallacher.. I seen that on one of the census.. they were all living with Patrick McCafferty and now I can't find it..  does SP remove your paid views after a while?

Hello Elaine

After casual browsing on the net I found the enquiry into the McCafferty family history.
This information may be relevant or not.

My Uncle . RC Priest Father John Quinn used to visit a family called McCafferty in Greenock when home on leave from the missions back in the 60's and early 70's.
I have just recently found out that my Great Grandfather had been married twice
and McCafferty may have been his name. My granny's maiden name was McGurn from Derrygonnelly in Ireland. There is some confusion with this and I am currently making enquiries with my Irish relatives.
My Gran married John Quinn I assume round about the 1920's given the age of my father and uncles.
Regards
B.
