Hello,
I have looked in the Parish Regs. for Urswick 1696--1837 and I could only find an entry for Miles son of Wm. Stable, waller and Jane of LU (Little Urswick) Miles born March 13th baptised April 6th 1806. This couple did have more children but this was the only Miles.
There was another family named Stable living at Great Urswick, they were Richard and wife Margaret.
Hope this helps. Mgt 37

Freebmd has a Thomas Stables registered Q4 1847 Ulverstone 25 p 1_5. The underscore means the number is not clear but if you apply for the birth certificate with the above information, mother and father will be on certificate. You probably need to check whether torner would be in the ulverstone registration district at that time.

IT LOOKS SUSPECT ON THE BABTISM DATE TO SAY SHE WAS BORN IN 1813. GEOFF
Ah, I was going by what Sisterjane had posted - 30 in 1851 :-
It could be 38 in 1851 and is certainly 48 in 1861, so I guess you're right ... in which case I've no idea :(
No baptisms at Cartmel in that era in the IGI.
-

1851 census clearly says Cartmel.
An age given as 25 in the 1841 census indicates a birth between 1810-16.
It was a common thing to name your kids after your parents, which is why I remarked on Mary's children Thomas and Agnes.
-
where they the only two thomas and agnes. geoff or where there more they are the only two on igi that i could find

They were the only two I could see on the censuses. I haven't checked IGI.
Apparently, Myles' parents were William and Jane. I see Agnes's 2nd name was Jane. Perhaps there was a William who died but really I've no idea.
