Does anyone know of or heard of Burn in Bush, Mossfield, Cally, Gatehouse of Fleet. A distant cousin drowned there in 1912.
This was given as place of death on his death cert.
Thanks.

Hi BigT
There is a Bush Loch in the Fleet Forest which is joined to Cally Lake by a body of water according to my OS map. Maybe it is known locally as the Bush Burn or something? There are a few buildings there, one of which could be Mossfield I suppose.
I hope someone more local to the area might be able to help you more.

Hi
if you go to www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk and enter Gatehouse of Fleet and then get the largest image, you will find Bush Burn running to the south of Gatehouse into Cally Lake, very close to Galla Hill Wood and Girthon Old Manse, just off the old military road.
Grid ref is NX 602 557

Thanks Gadget,
I hadn't realised that the online map showed that bit more detail than my paper one!

The online ones are very good, Kirsty, but only show a small section. I've got the paper map but it's on the shelf.
Some of my ancestors (the Porters) where from Girthon/Cally :)
