Hello, Would anyone be able to kindly find a marriage for the following couple in Fulstow:
Robert CRISP b. 1802 Fulstow, Lincolnshire
Mary GENTLE b. 1799 Chartoft??, Lincs. ( Place of birth according to the 1851 Census in Fulstow, but not sure where this is located or if the marriage could have taken place there instead of Fulstow??)
I believe they had a son, John Harold CRISP born 1822 Fulstow, but I have yet to confirm this.
Any help would be appreciated. I can't seem to locate the couple in 1841, but found them in 1851 in Fulstow. They emigrated to Rockford, Illinois between 1851 and 1860 where Robert was accidently shot by a solder in 1861 whilst on a train.
Thanks for any help on this! ;D

Marriage 25 Sept 1821 Fulstow, Robert CRISP to Mary GENTLE
Baptism 10 Nov 1800 Orby, Mary GENTEL, dau of Mary (so illegitimate)
I think the mystery place may be Abartoft - Habertoft - just a mile or two from Orby. :)

Thank you, GeoffE, for looking those up for me and for clarifying the mystery place of 'Chartoft'.
Would you happen to have any records of children born from this marriage in Fulstow?
Thanks again! ;D

I'm afraid not - the is a gap in IGI Fulstow baptisms between 1800 and 1829, so Robert's parentage is also uncertain. There was a Robert and Mary CRISP producing kids in Fulstow in the 1790s - burials 11 Dec 1845 (77) and 27 July 1840 (67) - but there may have been other CRISPs there who were capable of procreation. There were certainly other burials. I have no marriage for this couple.
Regarding Robert c1802, Lincs Archives appear to hold the relevant registers

Thanks again GeoffE for your help and for attaching the link!
It's a bit of a mystery whether they had children or not. Mary Gentle, his wife emigrated in 1852 with a nephew mentioned on the passenger list and his family which hints to Robert Crisp's parentage (Mary and Robert Crisp of Fulstow as you had written in your reply). Robert must have gone over to the States solo.
In the 1860 US Census for Rockford, Illinois ( a year before Robert was shot) he and his wife are living with a Emily E. Ewings aged 24, born England 1835 and her son John R. Ewings b. 1854 Rockford, Illinois, so possibly a daughter, but I can't find anything for an Emily E ???. Crisp having been born. It looks like Robert was working on the new Rockford railroad in the States, having been a railroad labourer in England. Unfortunately, he died whilst travelling on the train and at the onset of the Civil war. :-\
I have appreciated your time in helping with this!
Many thanks and best wishes,

I don't know if it helps but a Robert CRISP married Mary LOCKIN 1787 Fulstow

Hi, thanks for your message!
I have in my tree Robert Crisp and Mary Lockin being the parents of this Robert Crisp who went to Rockford, Illinois.
Are you Nicola Pike, because, if so, I think I remember you gave me the information on the newspaper article which you had found for Fulstow. If so, thanks very much for finding that for me all those years ago as it has opened a whole lot of doors in my family tree for my Crisp ancestors who emigrated to the States!
