Title: Lucy Smith help please!
Post by: Vasquez109 on Thursday 08 May 08 14:59 BST (UK)
My 3x Gt Grandmother was Lucy Smith born c.1820 in Stanion. Her father was Robert William Smith who I think I made a correct move by naming his wife as a Sarah Swingler born in Brampton.

Ive just used familysearch.org for the first time, and found a christening entry for 28/02/1819 in Stanion for a Lucy Smith with father of Robert William and an 'Ann'.

This now has thrown my tree into doubt. Anyone have any advice on a foolproof method of finding the correct information?

David.

This is Lucy in 1851.

HO107; Piece: 2079; Folio: 231; Page: 6

We have her marriage certificate to Thomas Stevenson which shows her father Robert. They were married on 21/10/1839 in Brampton Ash.

Thanks Sandy,

Does that index have anything about the death of an Ann Smith?

Thanks Sandy,

What database are you getting this info from? And does it give any baptism/christening details for Lucy? Prolly between 1818-1820 in Stanion.

Sorry to be a P.I.T.A!

As if David.  :)

The Northants marriage index is just that.

No birth baps or burials.

If you type Alan Clarke into Goo**** you will see what he has for sale.

You would need to look at the original Parish Records to see Lucy's baptism.

I think this may be the family in 1841.

H.O.107/797/18 Stanion Pg 10 Folio 8

Robert Smith 45 Ag L Y
Sarah 40 Y
Hannah 15 Y
John 13 Y
George 10 Y
Charles 7 Y
Rebekah 5 Y
Benjamin 4 Y
Robertt 2 Y
Also in household
George Swingler 35 Ag L Y

If so that gives a lot more children to find.
Sandy

So it looks like from the 1841 census that his children from Ann have all moved on from the household.

I am tempted with the baptism/birth index. Is it £30 or $30? The symbol hasnt displayed properly on my pc.
