Title: JULIAN (surname) - Long shot

Embarking on (for me) a brand new area of research with names I'm not familiar with, so begining with some wild guesswork.

I sense the surname JULIAN is not (nor has been) uncommon in Cornwall. I therefore wonder if there are any JULIAN researchers here who might help identify the line of Julians I'm working on, the first one being a William Ball JULIAN who married an Annie Martha TYDEMAN in Suffolk 1891.

Julian is certainly rather common in Cornwall but are you sure William Ball Julian is from Cornwall? I ask as the only birth for a William Ball Julian I can see states he was born in Cardiff Wales Sep 1/4 1862 11a 200  :-\

Do you have any further information from census etc?

Hi Kris, thankyou.

No I was anything but certain, hence "Long shot" in the title  - I had no census info and from random searching noted the number of Cornish Julians.  I'm certain that the person you found is the correct one because I have a note saying Cardiff, but it looked as though maybe he'd moved there.
I have also apossibility that he died 1971'ish in Wiltshire but no confirmation as yet.
Do you have that?

Looking at the 1871 Census I do note that William's parents were Cornish

If this is your William b 1862 it would seem highly unlikely he would have lived until 1971ish  ;)

Don't see Selina's baptism but given the census entries this appears to be the Marriage of her parents

John BALL = Sally Sandry OSBORN 24 Feb 1833 Little Petherick

Now Sally was born in Padstow - one of my parishes of interest

Sally Sandry OSBORN bap 27 Dec 1810 Padstow parents Thos and Betsey

Thomas OSBORN otp Bachelor = Betsy SANDRY otp spinster by Banns 1 Mar 1810 Padstow Tomas signed Betsy signed with her mark witnesses Thomas Hawkey and Richard Dunn Williams

Now back to William. I note that by the information provided in the 1891 census the marriage to Annie Tydeman appears to be his second marriage

There is the marriage of a William in Cardiff in Dec 1/4 1884 11a 442 (Elizabeth Dodd or Annie Lindsay) No deaths I can easily see in places of interest to clarify who it may have been.

The family are back in Llandaff with William's family nearby in 1901 (dad is still gardening too) which does seem to verify this earlier marriage
