Title: " COMPLETED" - Monty Francis-Grantham marriage & birth Look up
Post by: jb7 on Saturday 07 June 08 16:16 BST (UK)
Hi Guys

I am searching for a birth for Montague Francis c 1837 Grantham

I have him as child of William Francis & Ann ??
[can you find surname of mum too ??] and a marriage date ?

they had 9 children - I have found baptism for 1st five from IGI and qtr records for last 3 but Monty is a mystery.

other children are Augusta/Sarah/Caroline/Amelia/William/MONTAGUE/Emma/Harriet/Hester all between  1830 - 1845
Thank you
Jo

Augusta was born in 1824 Grantham so have you discounted the 1823 marriage in Grantham on the IGI to Ann Cutlin??

Several of the children were born after 1837 - a copy of one of their birth certs will give you Ann's maiden name and confirm whether the IGI entry is the correct one

Hi Carole

I ahve been on computer too long  :-[

Yes you right about Augusta bap.31 Mar 1824 and I had seen the marriage Ann Cutlin  too tired forgot to put in post .

I wonder if anyone is able to verify ? and help find Monty too.

[ps he appears on census so I know he is their child]

The only way you will verify that it is the correct marriage is by buying a copy of one of the older childrens birth certs to get Ann's maiden name

Births Sep 1845

Hester Ellen Francis   Grantham  14 378

Age 4 in 1841 census implies a birth between June 1836 and May 1837.  The Grantham IGI batch ends at 1835 and registration began in July 1837.  :(

My marriage index has the name as Ann CATLIN.  You will find a possible birth in the IGI as CATLIN but not as CUTLIN.

So Monty will have to be side lined for now.......

Thanks all

Hi

If you do a search on http://freereg.rootsweb.com/ you will find the marriage of William Francis & Ann Cantlin, both of Grantham.

The witnesses were John Cantlin & Sarah Cantlin if this helps.

So do I ... you'll find Monty's baptism there too (1 Dec 1836)  Just search on the surname.

Hi Jo,

You're welcome, just pleased I could help.

I am sure they must have put a lot more entries in because I never used to find much on it, but Lincolnshire seems to be quite well covered now.

Good luck

Gill
