The death certificates are very unlikely to give much information. Is there any particular details you are hoping to find?
www.cwgc.org might give dates, etc. if you haven't checked there already.

Hi Irish

I agree. If the one I applied for is anything to go by, it will just say something like "Killed in Action", which I already knew from CWGC.

Assuming that the death was overseas then you will need the Overseas Index reference to apply for it from GRO. I don't know if they can pinpoint it from date rank name and number.

I think that the Overseas Index is on Findyourpast  (Findmypast?) It's certainly not on Ancestry.

Does anyone know if the certificates have the age of the deceased soldier stated on the certificate?

Would appreciate any advice.
Thank you
Pat

I have a death cert. for a WW2 airman and that shows his age and death due to "air operations".

Thank you so much both of you for your very helpful replies. I did not want to get this death certificate if the age was not given as I know the soldiers kia have very few details.

Thank you both again,
Kind regards,
Pat
