I'm trying to find out the married name of someone and all ideas, help etc very welcome.
In 1910 census in Minnesota Inez Cornelia PILSON, 13, is listed with her family in Long Prarie, Todd, Minnesota.
In 1920 her widowed mother is in her son-in-law's house in Washington State but Inez Cornelia is not there.
She tended to use Cornelia as her name.
She was alive somewhere, as in 1930s she was married [married name unknown & whether marriage was in US or Canada unknown] & was living in Moose Jaw , Sask.Canada. Maybe she was a radio announcer at a local MJ radio station.
So how do I find her married name?
1. Can US 1920 census be searched by first names & age? if so this should settle if she was in US, single or married.
2. Border crossings? Are there US to Canada records for 1911-1935 & searchable by first names?
3 Are there searchable records for marriages in Canada say 1917-1937?
Note:
in US census the surname PILSON has been mistranscribed as Ritson[1910] , Bilson [1920 for her mother]. 1900 is correct as PILSON.
Any ideas help much appreciated.
Thanks.

You can use Ancestry to search 1920 census (but need subscription to view information). Put in first name, years of birth +/- 1 yr, place of birth if you know it...

She's not there in USA 1920 a realiable searcher told me.
I suspect that by 1920 she'd gone to Canada- she would have been aged 23 and could well have been married in either country., which is why I am wondering about border crossing records.
Thanks for your input.

There are some border crossing records (Canada to US) on Ancestry so you could try searching them.

Problem with that is that I don't have a sub. to ancestry. So any search as you suggest just brings up a lot of stuff that may or may not be relevant.
Thanks for your reply.

If you put in the details you have and keep narrowing down the criteria you can often get very close to the information there.

Karen,
Thank you for that. I knew she died there and with that surname in use. -In 1939 she left Moose Jaw and went to live in Toronto and started to use Hargreaves as her surname, then in 1948 went to Victoria.
She was going by the surname Hargreaves then, but that had not been her married name when she lived in Moose Jaw in the 1930s- and that surname is what I'm trying to track down.
Thank you for the lookup and your help,
charlotte
