I have just found on the 1871 Census in Inkpen, Berkshire one of my ancestors James May with a Granddaughter age 13 born in Lantrissant
obviously the enumerator was not aware of the Welsh double L.
Unfortunately, due to the poor quality of the Census record I am unable
to read the Christian name of the girl in question who would be born about 1857/58.
Can anyone tell me what the population of Llantrissant would be in the
1870's and offer any advice on getting further information. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Ricky & Cas,
Sincere thanks for this information. My copy of the 1871 census was so faint it was almost impossible to read, although the first letter of her name did look like an H. This fits with other info I have, now all I have to find is a marriage between a Harriet May and ?? Davis either in Llantrissant, Glam. or Inkpen, Berks. about 1856/7.

ricky1,
Would it be possible to tell me in a few short sentences how you magnified that portion of the 1871 census and transferred it to RootsChat?? I have tried to do that but can never get it to work.
Is is simply cut, copy and paste, or is there a lot more too it than that?
Afraid my PC experience started at age 65 and has not progressed too much.
