Title: Webpage
Post by: steve100 on Monday 21 July 08 17:22 BST (UK)
Had an idea for a website while looking over some old files etc...
website no longer working.
Just wondering if it might work and would like some feedback.

Hi Steve

I can't find a link that works - is there a mistake or are you still at the "thinking" stage?

Can't give any feedback without knowing what you have in mind!

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

as a link: http://www.freewebs.com/newportall/

First thoughts:  yes, why not, it's fun, and it's something that could lead to others contributing ...

I don't know how the site has been set up, but you might like to consider just thumbnails and a brief description of the individual items, which link to a page with the full size image and the full text.

that way you can put more 'bits' on your home page, which makes it more interesting for casual viewers, and it will load quicker too.

for more on thumbnails

My website is offline right now, so the examples there don't show,
but nearly all "news" sites, and shop sites use a similar technique
e.g. http://news.bbc.co.uk/

Hi steve100

I have ancestors from Monmouthshire. Not in Newport but had a look anyway. Keep it going its a great website. You have done well.

The only thing is I couldn`t leave a message in your guestbook. I couldn`t find anywhere to post it?

Hi steve100,

Sorry to tell you but I still can`t post a message in your guestbook there is no way of putting a message there? It is still the same as before.

Not trying to be a pain but thought I would let you know of this little hiccup.
I have no idea how to start up a webpage so I think you are very clever.
