I saw your request for info on the marriage and as I was in Thurning doing research on my ancestors the Short family I came across the gravestone for Lydia Short and your John Reynolds. The stone is leaning over at an angle of about 45 degrees but could read the info. She died on feb 25th 1884.I took a photo of the stone.
Hope this is of interest.

By THE WAY Sandy ... I think George may well be John Reynolds brother . I found him on the 1851 census living with his wife Elizabeth ..The village only had about a population of 136 in 1850 so it's likely they were related .. I shall follow that up . I think there were more John Reynolds living in the village than I could poke a big stick at !! ;D
Your help was and still is appreciated ... are the parish records available to buy on cd for Northampton ?.... I'm not too clued up on records prior to 1837! :-X :-[

Hi Polldoll.
The parish records are not available on cd that I know of.
They do have micro-fiche at the Northants Record Office for the
following periods.
Thurning (Hunts) Baps: 1560-1955, Mars: 1560-1837, Burs: 1561-1813
They must still hold the Marriage Book at the Church, so might be an
idea to contact the Vicar. :)

P.S. Polldoll :)
I have just noticed that Alan Clarke has a new cd rom of Baptisms
noted on his web site that covers Thurning from 1813 upwards.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/073r/
He does free look ups on some of his indexes so contacting him
will help you.
On the 1841 Census it seems that John could be the son of James.
There are 3 baptisms to a James and Elizabeth Reynolds prior to 1813
George, 27 Jul 1800, James, 22 May 1803, John, 8 Apr 1810
H.O. 107/451/10 Thurning, Hunts, Pg 4 Folio 6
James Reynolds 65 Shepherd Y
Alice 55 Y
Charlotte 15 Y
Next entry
John Reynolds 30 Shepherd Y
Lydia 25 Y
Elizabeth 1 Y
On Pg 6 Folio 7
George Reynolds 35 Ag Lab Y
Elizabeth 40 Y

Hi Poll
You are welcome. :)
As you say Mondo was very kind.
I often wonder, would any of us have progressed at the speed
we do tracing our families if it wasn't for Rootschat being on the
WWW. :)
Let us know if we can help further.
