Post by: lizzieS on Sunday 10 August 08 00:50 BST (UK)
Hi, i could be wrong but is Gt Horkesley in Essex or Suffolk ?
I am looking for info on George ashton Green 1904-? and violet evelyn Green (nee Nice) 1912-1984.  married in 1936. I have a charles ashton green married 1901 but can find no birth record.all references point to lexden and Colchester, but I have a residential addresss in Gt Horlesley for 1946. I can't find a death record for George or whether charles is his father. I am assuming he is by the middle name which is also George's sons name. any help gratefully received.  :-*

Great Horkesley is, as charlotteCH states, in Essex and is approx 4.5 miles north of Colchester on the A134.  Lexden is about 2.5 miles west of Colchester so all three places are very close to each other.

White's directory 1848 states, "HORKESLEY, (GREAT) a pleasant, scattered village, on the south side of the vale of the river Stour, opposite Nayland on the Suffolk side"
