Hi
Is there any way I could find a marriage record in Port Elizabeth, Cape of Good Hope? I'm not even sure my relative married over there, or if he married in England. His wife was born in in Port Elizabeth according to the 1891 and 1901 census. They didn't have children of their own, but brought up John's brother's children as their own after both their parents died.
There is 20 years between John Geraghty and his wife Catherine. The only evidence I have of John before 1991 is that he was witness at my gr grandmother's marriage in Warwickshire, England in 1858. I suppose he could have been married before this marriage, and have children, but so far I haven't found any signs.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
Rosemary

Hi there,
If you still looking for records in POrt Elizabeth, I suggest you try going to rootsweb mailing list for south africa immigrants site and search for "Port Elizabeth marriages". There is a lot of information on this site that has been transcribed, and you might get lucky.
Hope this helps

Hi Jackie
Could you explain how to do this a bit more, as I have tried but am doing something wrong. I am looking for a death in 1930.
Thanks a lot
