Title: family names
Post by: gear on Thursday 11 September 08 22:35 BST (UK)
Hi everyone,

I am hoping somebody can help me trace a branch of the Mannion family name
in Geashill, Co Offaly. I hope to try and establish the arrival of the name to the county- perhaps in the late 19th century - thats a guess on my part-
Hope this finds some response

on Griffiths Valuation (1847 to 1864  )

no Mannion listed for Geashill, Co Offaly.

but about 22 in total for the county, in the Townlands of

CLONADERG, CLORHANE, CREEVAGH and a couple of others

maybe some of these areas are near to Geashill....

Shane.

Hello Gear,

Welcome to RootsChat.

The Digby family developed Geashill as a planned estate village during the nineteenth century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geashill
