I would be interested to hear from anyone who has connections with any Hogg family living in Berwick on Tweed.
Cheers,
:) Sylvia

Hello Sylvia,
What years does your research cover for the Hogg family ???

The earliest relative I have found is Andrew Hogg married 1717 on Holy Island, with son William born in 1718. William was apprenticed in Berwick on Tweed and became an Alderman and Bailiff until his death in 1763. The family were still living in Berwick in the 1850's although my Great Great Grandfather was living in South Shields in 1849. Hope this further information helps.

I have a large family of Hoggs descended from Robert Hogg, b. abt 1783, of Ayton, Berwickshire. i have no links in Berwick-on-Tweed.
His son, Robert Armstrong Hogg moved south to Woolwich, London.

Hi
I was just searching family history and found your post. My great great grandfather Ambrose Hogg and his wife Eleanor had 2 sons born in Berwick on Tweed. My great grandfathers name was Thomas Hogg and his brothers name was William. Tom Hogg worked in the coal mines and then went into the cold stream guards until he was wounded in 1914. Him and his wife Rhoda Frazer with their 3 sons emigrated to canada in 1923. Look forward to hearing from you, tom.

Hello Cteer,
Thank you for the e-mail,
Sorry to say we cannot see any connection with our family of Hoggs.
Good hunting,
Graham

Hello Cteer
like penmoris, I'm afraid I cannot see any connection with our family of Hoggs. They either stayed in Berwick or went to Australia, and none I can find were coal merchants.
Hope you find yours
Cheers Barbara

Thomas Hogg married Eleanor Bennet/t 21 Nov 1826 St Alban's, Earsdon. The Bennett's had lived at Stickley Farm. I don't know how old the farm is? My 6th great-grandfather William Bennett (died 1802) is listed of Stickley Farm on his probate dated 1804. The families are inter-related.
